Kara | Registered Dental Assistant Kara was born and raised in Colo and graduated from Marshalltown Community College's Dental Assisting program in 2014. She obtained her Expanded Functions certification shortly after. She enjoys the personal connections made with patients throughout their visits, providing the best quality of care and seeing smiles be transformed. Kara's family includes her husband, Zach, and their two children, Paisley and Porter. Most days, you can find Kara spending time at home with her family, but in her free time she enjoys playing recreational sports and having game nights.

She graduated from the University of Iowa with her Bachelor of Science in Integrative Physiology in 2009 and from Iowa Central Community College Dental Hygiene program in 2012. Kayli | Hygienist Kayli was raised in Roland and continued to DMACC where she obtained her AAS and license in Dental Hygiene. Her favorite things about her job are interacting with patients and educating them on how they can obtain a healthy mouth. Kayli now resides in Colo with her husband, Andrew, their daughter, Logan and their three pets. When she's not working, Kayli enjoys kayaking, hiking, bicycle riding and spending time with her family and friends.

McKenzie | Insurance Coordinator McKenzie graduated in 2014 from Vatterott college with her Associate's as a Dental Assistant Specialist. McKenzie grew up in Ankeny and is an Ankeny Hawk alumnus. In 2015 she married her high school sweetheart, Zack. McKenzie started off in our office as a Dental Assistant in 2017 and in 2020 made the move to work front desk and become invested with insurance verification. McKenzie and her husband live in Ankeny with their son Henrik and two Goldendoodles Milo and Franklin. In her free time, she is staying busy being a boy mom and going on walks as a family.

Megan | Hygienist Megan graduated from DMACC in 2001 with her AAS in Dental Hygiene and is licensed to administer local anesthesia. Megan thrives to provide individualized treatment and dental hygiene education to all patients. Megan is involved in the Uptown Ankeny Association where she has owned and operated Therapeutic Massage Center for 23 years. Megan and her husband Brad, enjoy going to music concerts, traveling, Hawkeye sports and Cardinals Baseball. Daughter, Maddy, is 18 years old and will graduate from Ankeny High School in May. Maddy enjoys Competitive Dance and will be attending DMACC in the Nursing program. Megan, Brad and Maddy have 2 pug dogs, Carly and Maizy.

Brinkley | Hygienist Brinkley graduated from Hawkeye Community College in 2015 with a dental assisting degree and then went on to get her dental hygiene degree from DMACC in 2019. Brinkley has been with Summit Family Dental since they opened in 2016 and has enjoyed watching the team and office grow over the past 6 years. Brinkley strives to provide quality and comfortable care to all of her patients. When Brinkley is not working, she enjoys spending time outside and traveling with her husband Bobby and two little girls Cali and Palmer.

Shelly | Hygienist Shelly graduated in May of 1996 with her associates degree in Dental Hygiene from Parkland College in Champaign Illinois. Her goal has always been to provide the best possible care to patients based on their individual needs and ensuring their comfort throughout their entire visit. Shelly enjoys building relationships with her patients, and getting to know them and their families. Shelly has been married to her husband, Mike for 28 years and they have two daughters; Lexi, a senior at University of Iowa and Ashley, a freshman at the University of Kansas. When not in the office, you can find her relaxing with family and friends on her houseboat at Saylorville Lake. As well as attending Hawkeye and Jayhawk sporting events throughout the year. She also enjoys spoiling her dog Sadie and 3 cats: Kalani, Penelope and Sam.

Madison | Registered Dental Assistant Madison has previous assisting experience at a pediatric dental office in Ottumwa, Iowa before coming to Ankeny. Madison is from Bloomfield, Iowa but recently moved to Ankeny after graduation to attend DMACC to complete her prerequisite courses for dental hygiene. Madison is currently on the waitlist and plans to continue assisting during the meantime. In Madison’s free time she enjoys being outdoors, running, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family. Madison enjoys working with people of all ages and is excited to continue her education in the dental field.

Samantha | Registered Dental Assistant Samantha graduated from DMACC in 2024 with a certificate in Dental Assisting. She has always had a passion and interest in dentistry. She recently completed her Expanded Functions certification as well. She is currently attending classes to satisfy the pre-requisites for Dental Hygiene school and hopes to get added to the waitlist at DMACC as soon as these are completed! In her free time Samantha can be found with her friends and family, working, or hanging out with her recently acquired Golden Doodle. She is excited to expand her dental career in the future!

Savanna | Hygienist Savanna graduated from Indian Hills Community College in 2022 with an Associate in Dental Hygiene. Savanna’s favorite part of her job is providing personalized care as she gets to know her patients. She grew up in Ankeny and is thrilled to be serving patients in her hometown! Outside of work, Savanna enjoys spending time with her friends and family as well as Milton, her miniature Dachshund. You can also find her coaching kickboxing at Farrell’s, spending time at Saylorville Lake and cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones!

Maddie | Front Office Coordinator Maddie has lived in Ankeny for most of her life and is currently a student at DMACC, after graduating from North Polk High School. She danced for 14 years, and was on the dance team for all of her high school experience. In her free time, she enjoys doing nails as a hobby and as well as camping and traveling with family and friends!

Lea | Dental Assistant Trainee Lea is currently attending school to become a dental hygienist, and plans to continue working throughout. Outside of her studies, she enjoys staying active and creative through snowboarding, swimming, reading, and crafting. She is also knowledgeable on vehicle maintenance and spends a lot of time working on her car with her friends. She values quality time with her family, especially when playing board games together. At home, she spends time with her cat, Stormy, or heads out on the lake for kayak rides or a quick longboard ride—sometimes with Stormy along for the adventure.

Payton | Registered Dental Assistant Payton is a Registered Dental Assistant from Boone, Iowa. She has five years experience as a Dental Assistant and has completed her pre requisites for dental hygiene program. Payton also works PRN as a CNA at an assisted living facility. Payton moved from her hometown of Boone to the Des Moines area last fall with her significant other, Nick and two year old labradoodle, Phil. Outside of the office Payton enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, running with Phil, gardening when the weather permits and being outdoors. Payton is looking forward to many years ahead, serving our patients and expanding her knowledge of the industry!
